We believe that a joint effort among families, caregivers, and service providers is the best approach to helping young children reach their greatest potential. We believe that every child and family deserves individualized, skilled, compassionate evidence-based care. We believe that best outcomes are achieved when families and providers work together as partners. We understand that no two children are exactly the same, so we work with families to personalize strategies, services, and supports. We are committed to providing the highest quality of service in a child's natural environment.
At Pediatric Early Intervention & Developmental Services, our professional and experienced team of practitioners is dedicated to helping your family thrive. Our mission is to bridge gaps, effect change, and enhance outcomes for children and the adults who love them.
Pediatric Early Intervention & Developmental Services (PEIDS) is an early intervention agency that works in conjunction with BabyNet (ages 0-3) and the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN, ages 3-5) to provide individualized and specialized services and supports for infants, toddlers, young children, and their families. We support families and caregivers with understanding developmental differences, acquiring skills, and learning techniques and strategies to best support child growth and development to improve long-term outcomes in all developmental domains (cognitive, social/emotional, speech/language, physical, and adaptive). There is never a cost to families for children who qualify for early intervention services.
Our Early Interventionists and Service Coordinators are professional, degreed, highly skilled practitioners with years of experience working with children and their families, specializing in children with developmental delays; challenging behaviors; autism (or suspected autism); disabilities that could result in delayed development; and other special needs. This includes (but is not limited to) children who are at risk for disabilities, medically fragile infants and toddlers, and children with motor or speech and language delays. We are a group of caring, compassionate, child-focused practitioners who love supporting and advocating for young children. All of our early interventionists come highly recommended and believe that parents and caregivers are essential to children's growth and development. Our EIs listen to families because families know their children best. We are partners working toward best outcomes for children.
For children who qualify, with parent/caregiver input, we provide an assessment, then develop a written service plan that informs our work with the child and their family. Guided by the plan, we work with families and caregivers in the child's natural environment to provide research-based, therapeutic, developmentally appropriate strategies and support to target the specific developmental delay(s) and aid the child with progressing toward developmental milestones. Depending on the child's needs, we may support with cognitive (thinking & learning) skills, social-emotional development/behavior, speech & language, adaptive/self-help skills, or gross and fine motor development. We help to guide families and caregivers toward positively impacting long-term outcomes for children who may not be meeting (or are at risk of not meeting) developmental milestones. We provide services in the child's natural environment. That means we come to you, providing support in your child's natural environment- at home, at your child care provider, or in the community.
